Milano-Malpensa Airport is the best airport to land if you want to reach the city of Como and, in general, the towns located on the western side of the lake (such as Argegno, Tremezzina and Bellagio).
Malpensa Airport offers an extensive shuttle service to downtown Milan, but if you want to reach the city of Como (in about an hour and a half trip) and the neighboring towns by public transportation, you won’t need to go through the Lombard capital.
Thanks to the Malpensa Express train, which runs to Milan, you can get off at Saronno and change for Como.
From the city of Como, you can then reach the central lake towns by bus service or by boat. Here you will find all the information to reach Lake Como from Milano-Malpensa Airport.

Milano-Linate Airport is located just outside Milan, so it is very convenient if you plan to visit the big city before heading to Lake Como.
In any case, taking one of the many shuttles that connect the airport with Milan’s central station and from there the direct train to Como will take only slightly longer than the time it takes to reach Lake Como from Malpensa.
This airport is also a good option especially for reaching Como and the towns on the western side.
Here you can read how to easily reach Lake Como from Milano-Linate Airport.

The airport in Orio al Serio, a small town in the province of Bergamo (about a 40-minute drive from Milan), is the closest airport to the eastern side of Lake Como and is therefore a good choice if you want to reach Lecco (1 hours 15 by public transport) or Varenna (2 hours 20).
Once you arrive in Varenna, you can also take the boat and reach many other important tourist resorts on the lake (including Bellagio, Menaggio, and Tremezzina).
Note: public boat service in the city of Lecco and surrounding municipalities is limited to the summer season, but you can rely on efficient train service.
